JabRef Importing Guide

Specific guides for importing from different paper databases are given below, please add to this if required:

Importing from ProQuest

  1. Choose the: “Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager.” (under MyResearch)
  2. Save the file with a .RIS extension.
  3. In JabRef choose: File→Import (or Import and Append) → RIS
  4. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from OVID

  1. Select the “OVID” format when saving the references from the website
  2. In JabRef choose: File->Import (or Import and Append) -> AutoDetect
  3. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from DialogDatastar

  1. Select the “ResearchSoft” format when saving the references from the website
  2. In JabRef choose: File->Import (or Import and Append) -> AutoDetect
  3. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from BioMed Central

  1. Select Send selected articles to “Bibtex+Abstracts” format when saving the references from the website
  2. In JabRef choose: File->Import (or Import and Append) -> AutoDetect
  3. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from EBSCO Host

  1. Select “Export to Citation Manager” format when saving the references from the website
  2. In JabRef choose: File->Import (or Import and Append) -> AutoDetect
  3. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from SwetsWise

  1. Select “Default download Type” as “RIS” format from “Download Filling Cabinet”
  2. In JabRef choose: File->Import (or Import and Append) -> AutoDetect
  3. Find your downloaded file and import, job done.

Importing from ZETOC

  1. doesn’t seem possible…. ????????

Importing from CiteSeer

  1. register with CiteULike and:
  2. Choose Send to CiteULike from your bookmarks
  3. In CiteUlike choose ‘Save as BibTex
